My review for Chipit's Tiger Bars

Below is a recipe that I got off off the back of the Butterscotch Chipits Bag and can be found on the Hersey Canada Website.  This Christmas one of the most awesome gifts I got was from my sister Bre-Anne who got me every bag and flavor of Hershey's Chipit's that are made here in Canada. Okay well every flavor except Mint, as she claims to have needed them before arriving here for Christmas from Montreal via New York. Yes she carried all 8 variteies and 5 jars of Chocolate icing in her suit case for me for Christmas. What an awesome gift! So yesterday I wanted to bake something but was out of eggs so I tried this recipe and wow instant favorite, I would post the photo of what mine looked like but I can assure you mine were not as pretty as the ones in the photo from the website and there are not enough of them left to photograph. I highly recommend these. Sadly I should not make them anymore as I can not think of anything else I would rather eat at the moment, in fact I had 3 for breakfast. I am not sure if you can by this brand in the USA, however if you have Butterscotch chips from another brand it may work as well.

Okay after I up load the photo, I am going to go see if I have any left to pop in my mouth...Cut them really small...better then bon bons!

CHIPITS TIGER BARS

  • 2 cups (500 mL) rice crisps cereal
  • 1 cup (250 mL) CHIPITS® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) oil
Directions:
1. In large saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup; bring to boil over medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved.

2. Remove from heat; stir in 1/2 cup (125 mL) of the butterscotch chips; stir until melted. Stir in cereal until well coated. Press into greased 8-inch (20 cm) square pan.

4. In medium bowl over hot water (or in microwave), melt semi-sweet chocolate chips. Spread evenly over surface of bars.

5. In small bowl over hot water (or in microwave), melt remaining 1/4 cup (50 mL) butterscotch chips and oil. Drizzle in lines over surface of bars. Chill. Cut into bars.

Makes 24 bars.

Bracelets for 18 inch Dolls

Well tonight I watched my new Eclipse DVD and made bracelets for my 18 inch  and American Girl Dolls.
Here is how I did it. First  to make one bracelet you need 5-7 inches of plastic string or elastic string,  the longer it is the easier it is to tie up when you are finished beading. Small or seed beads and/or Charms, and Crazy Glue or nail polish if you are using elastic string. Measure and cut the string cut and tie a knot in one end leaving at least an inch so you can tie the ends together easier, then string on beads to 3.5 inches or 4 inches, (check the  beading by measuring the stringed beads around the wrist of your doll) then tie the string  to the end knot and double knot. Trim excess. Apply the polish or glue to the cut end, let dry and then put on your doll.

A fun and easy afternoon craft, I have included 4 photo's of the bracelets I have made and are shown on one of my dolls.
Enjoy!

Zhu Zhu pet Tutu and Tiara craft

Hello, this Christmas we received 3 Zhu Zhu pets, a friend of mine who gave us one got us started when she brought her daughter over with a few of hers and told me about the Clothes they saw in the store for Zhu Zhu pets, I think she was joking when she said "you should make them" so that is what she and her daughter and I did. With in 10 minutes I had created her daughters pets Tutu's. Here is how I did it so you can too.
You will need: 1 Zhu Zhu pet Hamster, 3 inches of 1/2 inch elastic (or thinner), 3 inches of ribbon, a 8x2 inch strip of Tulle, a glue gun and glue stick and a needle and thread.
TUTU:
First choose the ribbon and cut it and the elastic to size, then measure and cut the tulle. Next sew one end of the elastic to one end of the ribbon and repeat. Turn the ribbon inside out and dab a small amount of hot glue along the elastic. Gently press the tulle into the glue with your finger nail. Trim any sticking out edges, when the glue is dry you can try the Tutu on your Pet.
TIARA:
You can use a silver or iridescent pipe cleaner or if you have wired craft ribbon you can measure a piece that fits around the ears in a circle, cut and either twist or glue the ends together. Then if using the ribbon make an "arch" by bending the ribbon into a Arch shape and glue to the ribbon. Or twist a smaller amount of pipe cleaner to create the arch.I am posting two photos one of the supplies with list and a photo of the completed project.
Please leave me comments letting me know what you think.

Christmas was Craft-tastic!

While this has not been an easy Christmas for me, it has been Craft-tastic! I am so pleased that my Dad got me a gift card to Michael's and they have a huge coupon for boxing day! As well I am so looking forward to making the outfits from the book I got called All Dolled up by Joan Hinds, it comes with a DVD so I am so excited the outfits are adorable. ISBN-13: 978-1-4402-0417-3 or ISBN-10 1-4402-0417-9. As well I got a gift certificate to Fabric land so I can create new and exciting doll outfits. As well this Christmas we were given 3 Zhu Zhu pets, I will be making outfits for these fantastic toys as well, I will post photos and directions in the coming days. I have already made two outfits and will be having fun with these for sure!
Well I am off to read my new book and watch the dvd, I hope Christmas was wonderful for you all as well.
Oh and I got given a doll bath tub and my sister and her husband are going to the AG store shortly to get me the hair styling chair, I AM SO EXCITED, and yes, I know I have all boys but Christmas is for kids from 1-92 and this one is filled with doll clothes from AG New York, a bath tub and love.
Merry Christmas and Happy Crafting!

Welcome

Welcome to my craft blog. I hope that you will enjoy the ideas, baking and crafts that I am working on. I am a busy "stay at home mom" for the most part and love to make things. I teach craft classes at my boys school one day a week and I love it. My mother (who passed away this September 2010) had to stop buying J-cloths in the 80's as I would take them to create Barbie clothes, I love making something out of nothing. I also am very active on Swap-bot a great site where I run 5 groups, these are mail swaps, recipes, cards, crafts and creative ideas flow here, I have learned allot of new crafts this way and met some amazing people, all for the price of a stamp. It is addicting though! Some of my favorite things and themes will make it on this blog to give you an idea of some of the things I like are, Sewing American Girl (18 inch doll clothes), Garden Gnomes, Fairies and NASCAR. So I am starting this blog at the request of many to share the ideas and crafts I am working on.
I would love to hear from you! Enjoy!
