Rainbow Brite Inspired Looks for your 18 inch doll.

This weekend I was in Washington State and I went into a Hallmark Store and saw their Rainbow Brite Collection. I loved Rainbow Brite when I was a young girl and at the time (Much too old to play with dolls as people thought at the time) I eventually relinquished my doll to my much younger sisters and I could not help but pick the doll up in the store and hug her myself.  Today I am sharing some Rainbow Brite Inspired Looks on Etsy That I found for your 18 inch dolls and loved the memory....I may have to find a vintage Rainbow Brite and bring her home.
First up are rainbow tights for your 18 inch doll, I found these on Harpers Fashion City click here for shop and listing.

I love Doll Wigs, they add so much fun and whimsy and you can find an amazing selection on Etsy from EXCISITED DOLL DESIGN  priced under $30 and very much fun. Click here for shop and listing.
I would be very much excited to have the Rainbow Girl, outfit made for me! How cute is Originals by Gaby's Costume Pattern?????? Click here for shop and listing.

Madelon's Our Generation Doll Lorelei

Today Madelon shares with us one of her Our Generation Dolls!
"I like the Our Generation dolls for their playability and value. Lorelai came with a book, ice cream, apron and hat. I have seen people write that the quality is not as good as that of American Girl, but they are well made dolls."

"Great quality cotton blouse and overalls that button"

$29.95 for the set! Her hair is soft and silky!

Her legs and her arms actually bend, one of the things I love!
Thank you Madelon for sharing her with us today.

Mommy Monday Moment With Jenny

This week we have been working on some spring cleaning.  I am definitely not a person that hangs onto items that I don't use, don't need, or don't want.  So, I am consistently decluttering and going through the bedrooms.  We have a ton of toys that the kids want to sell.  However, we are not having your typical yard sale, we are setting up a duck pond game with a ton of colored bins to hold our "prizes" that our yard sale friends can play, win, and take home a treasure.  As we purged, cleaned, and sorted, Kaitlyn and I talked about her growing AG collection.

My daughter's AGD collection will be something that we will never part with.  I envision her always hanging onto them and passing them down to her children.  Now Natalie, our mess maker, is not ready for an AGD just yet.  We do enjoy playing with them together, but she does much better with baby dolls.  For her 2nd birthday she got the cutest dolly from her Aunt Sarah and an adorable stroller from her Aunt Jordana.  Natty is in love with this doll, she named Emmy.  Emmy goes everywhere she goes.  She takes care of this doll, just as I do with her baby sister, Lauren (9months).  It is just amazing how much little brains soak up.  It was great to see her treat Emmy just like Lauren.  She really is a great little mommy.  My husband and I were getting dinner ready one night this week and the downstairs was pretty quiet.

That means only three possibilities: Natty is pooping somewhere, she snuck up stairs with her brother and older sisters, or she is doing something that she shouldn't be.  Well, when we walked into the living room, we found Natty sitting on the area rug with Emmy watching her spoon Lauren's baby food into Emmy's mouth.  Emmy was covered in a spinach, zucchini, and pea mix, my rug was, and Natty.  How could you get mad? You couldn't.  You tell her great job and it looks like Emmy is full.

I said in my first post that doll play is much more than motherhood and nurturing, I also emphasized that they are important too.  Building nurturing little people can only make the world a kinder and safer place, which we need.

Mommy Monday Moment with Jenny

As you can imagine, in a house of seven, there are always things to be done.  Helping out is imperative.  We are very structured, routine parents.  You have to be to keep everything going smoothly.  I always say to myself anything after a shower is just bonus.  Children definitely thrive on predictable patterns, of course, with five children there are the occasions where days don’t fit into my ideal scenario.

I often wonder why I never become a coffee drinker.  This past week has been filled with taekwondo, parent luncheons, softball, two orthodontist appointments, one well visit, and grocery shopping.  In between all of those responsibilities, I certainly found time to get Natty and Lauren outside, while WNY had some 85 degree weather.  I decided it would be a great day for the park.  Natalie is new to navigating the playgrounds, especially with other children.  This is her first spring/summer that she is really old enough to have fun outside.

The park was loaded with moms and toddlers drippy with watermelon and Teddy Grahams crumbs.  I was beyond shocked on how well Natalie climbed, explored, watched, and took turns!  The week prior, when we played with our dolls, we practiced taking turns on our indoor Little Tykes slide.  I really emphasized the importance of walking to the slide and giving other friends space to climb up the stairs safely.  Natalie loved every time Lea slid down into the ball pit.

This is also a great time to demonstrate using the slide correctly, especially if there are many friends at the playground, you want to show that sitting or standing or even climbing back up the slide it not safe when other children are going down.  Which I am sure none of our children have ever done J.  I couldn’t believe how she was able to use our dolly play in her first real big girl play.  Doll play is important and an easy way to teach toddlers positive traits like turning turns and being safe.
