Using clear sectioned containers make it easy to see what you have and where you need to return doll play items when you are finished with them.

Doll Storage- Homemade For The Holidays Day Four!

 

Always a bone of contention in my house but doll storage and clever ides for doll storage are a wonderful gift idea. The Portable Closet Garment Bag Storage System you make yourself from a pattern by Love U Bunches, is a favorite of mine. Offered at $3.99 on the Pixiefaire website this pattern will allow you to sew as many doll storage bags as you need and hang them up!

Another great storage deal!

I found this great over the door storage for only $8.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond. Walmart also caries one with 20 pockets for the same price. I am thrilled with this find and I think you will agree this is a great doll accessory storage solution.
American Girl does sell a similar product for $48 and it has 18 pockets. Mine with 24 pockets was $8.99

 

I like that the pockets are see through and it says American Girl on it but I think for the savings and the extra storage space the one I got from Bed Bath and Beyond is a great find.

Need Accesory storage? You have to try this!

 

Some of you may know by now that I write a weekly column for Doll Diaries; (you can go to a link for one of my posts here http://dolldiaries.com/doll-play-make-a-store-for-your-dolls/ ) and one of the readers there named Olivia, told me about something she saw on Youtube where someone had posted a video that showed a mug rack that she had re-purposed into doll accessory storage. 

Thank you Olivia for this information. When I visited my local thrift store I found one and am thrilled it even matches the towel rack I use for a clothing rack for the doll store. A great deal for under $4 and it still had the original store price tag of $24 on it so it was a fantastic find.

So for this post I set to work sewing some doll purses as I realized I did not have many in my collection. I also thought it would be great to store the doll hairbands I have made and I even think that when I set out to make my next 100 doll bracelets they will look great on this display as well!

Where do you keep your doll items?

Constantly creating doll items for my blog, http://dolldiaries.com/ and my nieces, I am often asked Where do you keep all your doll items. This is a constant source of "storage wars" in my home. Remember I live with three young boys and a husband so tripping over doll stuff became a huge problem. I use to keep my doll stuff beside the couch when not working on doll related items or when my nieces were not here, however that space soon became overwhelmed and I searched for a better solution. Now I would love to have a space of my own, a room I could keep all my craft items and doll stuff  but in our current home that is not possible. So I recently changed a few things around in my living room, stole a shelf from my youngest sons room and reclaimed the living room  and most of the kitchen to contain my doll stuff and sewing/craft items. I would love to create the doll house that Skylar and her Mom Tiffany created, it is on my list of things to do but for now this is my storage now. Make your own Doll wardrobe for under $10!

If you are like me you are running out of storage for doll items. Here is a great storage idea. I love this one. I bought a plastic storage bin from my local Wal-mart for $6.97 and I used a bamboo stick (you can use a wooden dowel) and cut it to fit through the crate. Using the hangers I picked up at Michaels the craft store (the small white wire ones) and the ones I picked up at the American Girl Doll store in Boston. Now I can easily organize and  hang up the dresses I sell in my Etsy store.
