Looking For Great Items For Girls N Dolls? Madelon Found Them For Us!

I love seeing dolly and me items when I go out. I need to refill my purse with doll goodies to give out when I am out and about, last weekend there was a little girl and her Rebecca doll and I kicked myself that I did not have a card or doll treat to give her. Madelon reminded me of re filling my bag and shared this great Etsy shop that has wonderful matching dolly and me hairbands.
Today I am pleased to share GirlsNDolls Etsy shop with all of you.
It is Cherry Blossom Season here on the West Coast and I hear from Madelon on the East Coast too, We both loved this listing for cherry blossom inspired headbands!
This shop has great listings for items like simple doll skirts at very affordable prices which make great loot bag items. If you are not someone who sews shops like this make parties so much more fun!
This shop has a great selection of Dolly and Me Separates as well, fab and fun patterns you are going to love.
I love that you can request items in size 14! Not many shops offer items in larger girl sizes so this is a shop to take note of!

Make Your Own Dolly And Me Valentine Pilllow Cases! A Craft Tutorial By Karen Mom of Three

Valentines Day is just under a month away and I thought it would be fun to do a tie dyed pillow case for Dolly & Me. To create your own you will need:
-A dollar store white or light colored pillow case
- A doll sized pillow case made from a dollar store pillow case  (fabric, sewing machine, iron, etc)
-Rit Dye in colors of your choice,  I used Tangerine and Cherry Red
-Twist ties or elastics
-A bucket to dye your pillow cases in
-Large Spoon to stir
-Dish soap
-Salt
-Sharpie or Fabric Marker
-Cardboard to slip into the pillow case before your write on it
Step 1- Sew yourself a doll sized pillow case. I used one of the dollar store pillow cases and cut the fabric so that it measured 10 inches X 16 inches. Fold one of the 16 inch sides over by 1/2 inch and iron, then one inch and iron. Next sew a straight line making the edge of the pillow case.  Next  fold with right sides together and sew two sides of the fabric leaving the edge you created open to slide a doll sized pillow into.

Step 2- Take your dollar store pillow case and the doll sized pillow case to the sink and get them really wet. Next use twist ties or rubber bands to tie off the fabric, do it tightly these will leave white marks in the fabric.

Ste 3- Prepare your dye bath as per the directions on the Rit website shown below.
  1. Fill sink or bucket with enough hot water for fabric to move freely. Remember: Use 1 package of Rit powder or 1/2 bottle of Rit liquid dye and 3 gallons of hot water for each pound of fabric. Pre-dissolve powder in 2 cups of hot water. Add pre-dissolved powder or liquid to dye bath. Stir to mix.
  2. Wet fabric in hot water. Uncrumple and add to dye bath.
  3. Stir constantly (back and forth, up and down) for 10 to 30 minutes.
  4. Rinse in warm water, then gradually cooler water until water runs clear. Wash item in warm water with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly in cool water.
  5. Dry item in dryer or air dry.
  6. Clean sink or bucket immediately with chlorine bleach or scrub with chlorine-based powder, liquid, or gel cleanser.

Madelon Finds A Wonderful Ballet Outfit For Saige...

In addition to finding us all kinds of great holiday offers, deals and fun finds, Madelon has found Saige a Dance outfit to welcome American Girl Doll of the Year Isabelle who is to be released on January 1. It is rumored that the new doll of the year will be a doll that is a dancer. Madelon found this fantastic set at Khols for under $20 and shares her photos with us today.

The outfit was $19.99 with forty percent off, plus extra off if placed on a Kohl's charge.
Not all Dollie and Me fit AG, but this one does. I like it! This outfit fits American Girl dolls really well and the leotard can double as a bathing suit!

Check Khols and Target! for Great Deals on Holiday Sleepwear! Madelon found a great deal and a truly fun find!

If you saw yesterdays post about Madelon's tiny town and noticed the adorable Pj's her doll was wearing and would like it for your own doll Madelon let us in on her fun find at Kohls,

"I found this matching child's nightgown with doll nightgown for fifty per cent off at Kohls and it made me happy."

"This polyester blend fair isle print is Christmas like but works for the winter. It has a loose elastic at the neck for easy pulling over the head."

"Another good feature of this nightgown is that it doesn't have elastic at the wrist. I've learned that sometimes elastic at the wrist can leave marks on the doll."

" I was in Target yesterday when I came across a green cardboard display filled with reduced matching doll/toddler girl pajamas for $4.90 a set!"

So cute!

These are such a great fun find! For a fraction of the cost of regular doll clothes you can dress all your dolls for under $20!

I love the bed heads!

Thank you Madelon for another set of wonderful fun finds! Keep your eyes open for fun finds like Madelon's!

There are many more outfits in Katie's shop and with price points of $18-$70 I am sure there is something for every doll lover available to be made by Katie, order early to have your outfits before Christmas!

Katie shared with me a bit about her shop and her collection and I wanted to share that information with you...
"Well, when I was a girl, my younger sister collected the American Girl dolls (I was "too old" for dolls!). I thought the dolls and their stories were really neat, and I loved looking through the catalogs. At that time American Girl offered dresses for girls that matched each of the historical dolls' outfits.

Last year, my daughter's bff got an AG doll, so of course that sparked an interest for my daughter and I! I was surprised to find that the only girl-sized outfits offered were for the "modern" or "just-like-you" dolls. We are particularly fond of the historical dolls and their educational value, so I began sewing dresses for my daughter that matched "Samantha's" Victorian frocks (my daughter got a "look-alike" Sam for Christmas as a trial doll before splurging on the real thing).

She received many compliments on her dresses, especially when she was accompanied by Samantha in her matching dress. I thought, "surely, we're not the ONLY ones who miss the historical garments," so I posted some of my daughters dresses on Etsy, and my shop "katiebugmommy" was born!

I love sewing for my daughter, especially when the dress I'm working on is so highly anticipated! That excitement translates when I'm sewing for a customer. Although I do not know the little girl who I am sewing for, I know her excitement! I know this dress will be one of her favorites, just because it matches her doll! I know that she will feel extra special, and walk with little bounce in her step, just because she and her beloved doll can be twins. I count it a special privilege to be part of that excitement!

The dolls that live in our house include Samantha and Josefina (my daughter's) as well as a JLY doll that I bought off ebay for myself. Oh, and Felicity will be coming to stay at Christmas, just don't tell my daughter!"

I too miss the matching historical girl sized dresses and am thrilled to have found this great Etsy shop is offering these dresses to the next generation of American Girl Doll Historical lovers.
