I don't often come across American Girl Hard Cover Books anymore but The Book Depository has Happy New Year Julie listed as available currently. This hard cover holiday classic is a wonderful book to own and enjoy. Julie's story line is one of my favorites and this is a great book. To learn more about this book on The Book Depository please click here.
I have a few of the Historical Classic Stories in Hardcover and they are a doll lover and collectors delight.

Madelon's Fun Formal Find!
Today Madelon and Grace are getting ready for Chinese New Year and this is a wonderful example of how you can find items deeply discounted at your local big box stores that are perfect for doll play.
"Chinese New Year celebration lasts many days. Grace did not have a traditional dress, so she wore something inspired by the red and gold color palette. This dress from Target is a repurposed baby dress."
Even if you do not sew, baby dresses can be easily altered with just the ribbon tie to make them work for doll play! Be sure to look for Premie or 0-3 dresses.
This is a great find Madelon!
Thank you for sharing with us this fun formal find! 2015 Is The Year of the Ram. We hope you will all enjoy this weeks posts about Chinese New Year!

Happy Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) 2014
Did you know today is Lunar New Year? Growing up it was called Chinese New Year for me but I am told the preferred title is Lunar New Year , I love the sound of that! Both Madelon and Jessica T have been kind enough to send in some wonderful doll play ideas! First Madelon:
This year is the year of the Horse and Madelon shares some wonderful mini Ivy photos with us today!
Madelon shares her Mini Ivy Scene
"Ivy serves a whole chicken (for good luck) with a rice pudding dessert"
Madelon used items from her doll play collection for her smaller dolls and Barbie as well as a saucer from her 18 inch dolls tea set for her scene.
Jessica T has found these wonderful make it your self Fortune Cookie Craft that can be easily adapted for 18 inch doll play. Click here for free pattern and directions.
In September of 2011 I created the "Pink Panda" Restaurant for Doll Diaries which is a tutorial for felt food. You can view that Tutorial on Doll Diaries by clicking here

Happy Chinese or Lunar New Year, Madelon Shares Her Good Luck Feast With Us!
Madelon sent these photos and this wonderful New Year idea to share with you all for Chinese or Lunar New Year!
"I was looking for a dessert to celebrate Chinese New Year on Sunday when I came across Chinese sticky rice cake. It is made in a variety of ways. This version looked appetizing so we tried to recreate it." Said Madelon (click the link for the recipe for People version!)
"Our cake is made from spongy material cut into two circles. A brown satin ribbon acts as the filling. It is hot-glued between the spongy pieces. Small beads sprinkled on top replicates a dusting of cinnamon and brown sugar."
