"American Girl released at least 5 new pair of footwear  in January at $10 each. I am very impressed with the selections and price. Having realized during a photo session I did for a Doll Diaries Throwback Thursday on doll shoes many years ago, I own over 300 pairs of doll shoes." 

"Many came with outfits that my mother collected for my daughters, but most I hand selected.  I guess I am a fan of doll shoes. At times, American Girl boots sell for $14 to $16. I am happy the price on these slip-ins is $10."

A Visit With Doll Shoe Lane!

I love these little shoes. All the ones I am sharing today can be found in a relativity new Etsy shop called Doll Shoe Lane.  Today Shop owner Noah share a bit about the shop.

KMOT: How did you get started sewing doll shoes for American Girl Dolls?

DSL:After I graduated from High School last Spring, I decided I wanted to become an entrepreneur and run my own business. I started out making T-shirts with designs out of heat transfer vinyl and then tried making other things. My mom came up with this idea of me making doll shoes. She runs her own machine embroidery business and she sells the designs. Some of her most popular designs are her doll shoes. She had a lot of requests to sell the actual doll shoes instead of the embroidery file. So she came to me with this idea of making and selling doll shoes on Etsy, and that would help me understand the basics of running my own business. 

KMOT: How many dolls to you have?

DSL: I don’t own any dolls myself. However my two sisters have collected quite a few over the years that I use to model my shoes in the photos. Between the two of them, they have many American Girl dolls and 18” My Twinn Dolls as well as a few department store type dolls.

KMOT: What to like most about this style of doll shoe?

DSL:The nice thing about my doll shoes is that they fit most 18” dolls and they’re made of felt which makes them very flexible to get on and off of the dolls foot.   They also don’t have laces or straps so kids of all ages can dress their dolls super easily.  

KMOT:What is your most favorite shoe to make?

DSL:My favorite shoe to make would probably be the Guitar Slip On, because I actually play guitar, and I enjoy music related things. 

KMOT: Which is your top seller?

My top seller right now would be the Purple Bow Band doll shoes. I have several different varieties of the bow band shoe in different colors.

KMOT: Let us know anything about yourself, your shop or your doll collection that you think our readers would like to know.

DSL: I’m always adding new shoes to my shop so there’s a lot to look at and choose from.  I also started shipping internationally so everyone around the world can enjoy my shoes!

Doll Feet? What Is Up With The Different Sized American Girl Feet?

Recently Madelon and I were discussing the apparent size difference in the American Girl Doll Feet.

Is anyone else noticing the different sized feet when trying on shoes that have always tradditionally fit American Girl Dolls?

A Personal Visit With Bee From A Bee Line!

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of welcoming my friend and doll shoe designer Bee from A Bee Line Etsy shop to The American Girl Store Here in Vancouver!

 

Now part of my job that is just the greatest is that through my blog and love of dolls I have gotten to meet some pretty amazing people. Bee is one of these people!

Bee is a doll lover who designs and creates outstanding doll items and who has turned her hobby into a great business.

 

I met Bee on line in 2011 and was amazed when I got to meet her and her daughter last July on a trip to her home state!

 So it was really great to get to see her almost a year later here where I live!

Bee was also my partner for the Secret Sister Swap on Facebook I had last year so I was spoiled all her long with her very thoughtful and creative gifts! She put so much thought into everything!

I was very surprised and thrilled to receive another pair of shoes made by Bee and I did a You tube video about the shoes and Bee's Etsy Shop in my one minute doll chat video!
