A look back at the toys we used to love and wish we still had, My Little Pony Softies

Today I am remembering a much loved stuffed my little pony softie I used to have. I was able to find images of them on Etsy but not the one I had. I am sure I had minty but I can not find a photo and the closest I found was Bow Tie which I most likely what I had. My sister Bre had this pink one, called Cotton Candy. I wish I still had this pony today.
You can find this one in the Ravishing Retro Etsy Shop by clicking here.

These came out in the the 1980's and I still remember how excited I was when my parents brought them home for us.  Did you happen to have one of these lovelies? Or maybe you still have one today? We would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email us at karenmowen@gmail.com

Saturday Morning Trip Down Memory Lane

This Saturday morning I am sharing with you a memory of my first My Little Pony. I remember it was 1983, my sister had just been born and my great grandmother was visiting from Montreal. She and I made our way on foot to our local toy store where she let me pick out my very one My Little Pony. For me it was love at first sight. I remember the walk, the sound in the mall ad that Hans Christian Andersen Toy Store I remember it was on the left hand side of the store and it was hanging on one of those long silver hooks that attached to the wall. The store had three pony's on that wall, Butterscotch, Cotton Candy and Minty. I remember how the package felt, how the pony smelled and the feeling of joy as I carried it home. My then almost two year old sister got Cotton Candy, even though she was much to little for it, my great grandmother wanted her to have one too.  This cherished memory is sadly just a memory and I no long have that pony. But I cherish the memory of that day and the hours I spent playing with her.  I am seriously considering purchasing one from Etsy, even though a few years ago I bought one of the re released ones, it is just not quite the same.

I have looked but there are no photos I can find of me with my ponies so I only have the memories of that day and the playdates I had with friends & my sisters and our ponies, I will if I do find my re released one of if I get up the nerve to order a vintage one.

Do you have a memory but not the doll or toy? Share it with us and we may just print it here. Email karenmowen@gmail.com with Trip Down Memory Lane in the subject line. You don't have to share a photo but if you have one of that doll or toy we are happy to share it with other.

Throwback Series To The Toys We Have Loved... My Little Pony Stable, Karen Christmas 1983

Karen here and starting this Thursday we have a series we hope you will like in a look back at toys we have loved over the years. Each of us will share some of our most favorite toys from when we grew up. Some we still have some we wish we still had and some we are actively looking to find.

The above photo is of me holding a Strawberry Shortcake doll, and by my hip I my most favorite gift that year which was my My Little Pony Stable. I had one Pony Minty, I still remember how she smelled and walking to the shopping mall toy story with my great grandmother to purchase her 6 months before this photo was taken. I remember putting together this stable and this is a toy I wish I HAD still!
This is a photo of what the Show Stable looked like.

My original Minty is long gone like my stable but I did buy the 25th Anniversary one and have her by my desk. I would love to have this stable back and my original Minty!  While they did a great job with bringing these back for the anniversary, they made Minty a different color! The Original one was not quite the same color. Boy I would love to have the original one!

I remember carrying the stable with me through out the house and playing with my little sister Bre (the curly blonde in the Christmas photo, she had Cotton Candy the pink one and my baby sister Pumpy not shown as she was only a few month old that Christmas, used to chew on the my little ponies we had for the bath!
Such fun memories and a goal going forward for me trying to find the pony stable and having it to play with when my nieces come over again.

Thank you for taking a trip down memory lane with me this week. I can not wait to see what Jessica T, Madelon, Brandy and Jenny have to share with us during this series.
We love hearing from you so please leave us a comment here or email us at karenmowen@gmail.com
