Totally Me! A Paint Your Own Tea Set By Toys R Us Product Review

For Christmas my nieces Laura and Thea gave me a Totally Me Tea set and recently Thea and I got it out and painted it! This is a fun product and the perfect gift/project for this crafty tea loving Aunt!
Toys R US sells this set on line for $11.99 and this is a fabulous deal!  This set includes everything you need except the newspaper to paint on. The box recommends 8+ but my Three year old Niece and I had a blast painting our own cups and I took on the tea pot, creamer and sugar.
As we painted I chose a simple line design in purple and Yellow, Thea liked to use as many colors as possible!
We both had a blast painting these and recommend this set to any tea and craft loving girl or adult! While it dried we had our weekly tea and now we have a keepsake tea set!
As with all our posts we would love to hear from you so please leave us a comment here or email us at karenmowen@gmail.com

My New Tea Set From Steeped Tea!

As many of you know I love tea, I have discovered in the last year a home based business called Steeped and I have had two home parties, which have been a great sucess, I love the tea products and drink tea everyday all day.

At my last party two weeks ago I earned some hostess credits like many other home parties this gives you some money to spend on items in the Catalog that you would like and you get at a reduced rate or even free. I spent my credits on bags of tea (13 of them) and then I got a half priced item and bought the "My First Tea Set" it sells for $37 so I feel like I got it for a steal!

You can find Steeped Tea Consultants on line by Clicking Here as I understand that Steeped has just expanded into the USA some of you may find you want to give the tea a try!
As a doll and tea lover I am thrilled with this set which is perfect for 18 inch dolls.
I just had to share it will all of you.
If you are looking to add this tea set to your collection you can contact Steeped for a consultant near you or you can order on line by clicking here.

The Fuzzy Peach Black tea and the After Eight Black Tea are some of my most favorite flavors offered by Steeped just in case you are wondering!

Holiday tea sets for dolls, I found mine at a yard sale

Sometimes I more then luck out. I found this great holiday tea set at a yard sale for only $2. It came with lots of other mismatched pieces in a baggy, these were the best of the set. These are meant to be decorative but they are perfect for a doll sized tea set.
The tea pot has a removable lid and the tea cups are not stuck on the saucers. The larger serving plate has a matching holiday design.
I am sharing this post with you to show you the kinds of things that you can re-purpose into doll play items. While you may not find this exact set this time of year at a yard sale or thrift shop, keep your eyes out year round and you never know what you will find. Here are some links to vintage sets and some dolly and me sets on Etsy

Happy Holiday shopping, I am going to go make my self some tea.
As with all my posts I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

The perfect dolly and me tea sets perfect holiay gifts or birthday party favors!

I came across this fun and fantastic Etsy shop called Holly Slay Handmade
Holly makes custom tea sets that are so whimsical and perfect for afternoon tea parties for girls and their dolls. These well made and reasonably priced sets are a prefect addition to any doll play collection.

This set of a child size tea cup and saucer accompany a doll sized cup and saucer for only $25!
Holly tells me that she has painted whimsical ceramics since college. She worked part time in a paint-your-own pottery studio.
"When my husband and I purchased our house, it had a basement perfect for a home studio and a kiln. Over the last ten years, I dabbled in it off and on, as family life allowed, mostly custom gift orders and a few sales on Etsy."

What inspired Holly to make sets for sale on Etsy?
"In 2010, I painted tea cups for my daughter's Alice in Wonderland 6th birthday party. Each guest received a cup as their party favor. They were such a hit with the little guests, I decided to list them in my etsy shop. Since then, I've been blessed with tons of orders and have painted hundreds of tea cups for little girls' parties! The cups are perfect for children and for dolls. Last spring, for my niece's tea party birthday party, I painted a 'doll & me' set. It's perfect for 18" size dolls. She loved it! Now I offer the sets in my etsy shop as well."

Holly's daughters (ages 7 & 3) love all things American Girl. " My oldest daughter has two My American Girl dolls, one that looks just like her (long blonde hair, blue eyed), and another one so her first one has a friend. We gave both daughters Bitty Baby dolls for their first birthdays and they are well loved"

I love the fact that you can order from this shop not just a tea cup and saucer but entire sets, perfect for birthday parties and the guests can keep their own cup! Starting at only $8.50 per person!
I love Fancy Nancy and the Pinkalicious series
Take a look at her tea sets inspired from these popular series
I love Fancy Nancy so do my nieces and this set is fantastic!
If you are a tea party enthusiast, or simply a parent, grandparent or friend looking to purchase a truly unique and special tea set for some one as special. Take a look at Holly's store at Holy Slay Handmade's Etsy shop and order early to avoid the holiday rush!
As with all my posts I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

Re-purpose a cupcake stand as a Doll sized Cake Stand

I love to re-purpose items from everyday life into doll play items almost as much as I love tea parties! I found this great cupcake stand at a store called Mingwo in my local mall it is a kitchen store that has a cake decorating and baking section. I got mine on sale for $4.50 and love that I can use it for both purposes.
I have been looking for a doll sized cake stand for a while now and loved this one. The store had them in different styles and colors. I loved the pink one but they had  green one I may go back for that I loved equally.

Pair this with some doll food I made, and my favorite tea set and voila instant tea party!
I have thought of how to make my own doll cake stand and will share that in a later post when I find all the materials I need.
As with all my posts I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com
